中井智子（TOMOKO NAKAI）
見えない世界の気配を、日本画に。
幻想と物語性をたたえた日本画を制作しています。
和紙や絹に岩絵具や墨、箔を重ね、自然や神話、動植物の姿を通して、
目には見えない生命の気配や心に残る情景を描いています。
京都市生まれ。画家である両親のもとで育ち、幼少期より絵に親しむ。
東京藝術大学美術学部日本画専攻卒業、同大学院美術研究科修了。
現在は横浜市を拠点に制作し、全国各地で個展を開催。
絵本や書籍の挿画、映画の劇中画など、幅広い分野で作品を手がけています。
日々寄り添うハープの音色や、四季折々の自然、小さな生きものとの出会いは、
作品に流れる静かな世界観を育む大切な源となっています。

Where Unseen Worlds Quietly Take Form
Born and raised in Kyoto, I am a Nihonga artist now based in Yokohama, Japan. My paintings evoke unseen worlds, quiet stories, and the subtle presence of life.
Using traditional materials such as washi paper, silk, sumi ink, mineral pigments, and metal leaf, I explore the delicate boundary between reality and imagination. Inspired by nature, mythology, animals, and the changing seasons, I seek to capture moments of stillness and the quiet emotions that cannot be expressed in words.
I studied Nihonga (traditional Japanese painting) at Tokyo University of the Arts, earning both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. In 2005, I was selected to create reproductions of the paintings and calligraphy from the National Treasure The Tale of Genji Picture Scrolls, held by the Tokugawa Art Museum. One of these reproductions was later acquired by the university.
My work has been presented in numerous solo exhibitions throughout Japan and has also been commissioned for children’s books, book covers, film artwork, and television productions.
